What would happen if? I love to start a painting with that questions and try to challenge my students to do the same. Once you learn the basics of your medium it is good to experiment and push yourself to try new things. There are so many fun and creative techniques to try with watercolor that I never get bored with it.
Last week in class we began by quickly drawing our flowers with a fine tip masking fluid pen to create a loose and free look. Then, we applied the paint on to wet paper, letting the colors mix and mingle in and around the flower. When the masking was removed we were rewarded with crisp, white lines that added fun energy to the painting!
